Dental Assistants
Melissa
Dental Assistant
Hi, I’m Melissa, one of Dr. Tom’s assistants here at Beaverton Dental Center. I started working at this office in 2009 right after I graduated from the dental assisting program at Portland Community College. My favorite part of my job is giving our patients a positive, comfortable experience at their dental appointment. I love when the patents leave our office happy and smiling! I also love working with Dr. Tom because he is an easygoing, genuinely nice guy. I feel confident in his work and patients are always happy with the smiles they achieve.
Chris and I are expecting out first baby boy this fall. I enjoy the outdoors and adventure! I also love spending time with my black lab, Olive; she comes with us everywhere!
Andrea
Dental Assistant
I joined Dr. Tom’s office in 2007 as one of his dental assistants. My favorite part of my job is the relationships I make with our patients. I enjoy getting to know them and making their experience as comfortable and positive as possible. I also enjoy working with Dr. Tom because he is great with patients and does excellent work. He takes his time to educate the patient and explain everything to make them feel more comfortable.
In my free time, I enjoy doing activities with my husband and two kids. We especially enjoy spending time at the beach and swimming.
Kelsey
Dental Assistant
I became a part of BDC’s dental assistant team in 2014, and I work primarily with Dr. Williams. Some patients come to our office who haven’t smiled in years because of their oral health. I love seeing that first grin and knowing that I was part of helping that person feel confident again. Besides being an excellent dentist, Dr. Williams is kind-hearted and so fun to work with. Dr. Williams is respectful and always voices his appreciation towards his staff.
I enjoy spending my free time with my family. We love doing projects around the house, camping, and vacationing to Maui as much as possible.
April
Dental Assistant
I began working for BDC initially in 2012 as a temp but got to join the team full-time in 2015. I started as a dental assistant back in 1996 (some of my patients weren’t even born yet!). Since then, I have written articles, taught in the field for dental assistant students and for sales reps at a major dental supply company, and edited content for an industry web design company. Here at our office, I love getting to know our patients; each person has a story to tell!
My husband Tomas and I hail from Michigan originally, and moved to Oregon in 2001 for all the outdoor amenities and the vibe of the city. Our child is the four-legged variety, a cat named Abbey. There is a reason she is named after the housing of monks—my husband is a professional brewer! By day I am a dental assistant, but by night and weekends, I co-own Culmination Brewery with my husband!
Dental Hygiene Team
Briana
Dental Hygienist
I earned my dental hygiene degree from Portland Community College and my Bachelor of Science in Dental Hygiene from Oregon Institute of Technology. I have been with Beaverton Dental Center since 2007. The best part of my job is being able to provide my patients with the highest quality of dental care coupled with education and encouragement in a comfortable environment. Our doctors and team enjoy building long term relationships with patients and their families.
A native Oregonian, I enjoy riding my horse, playing softball, playing with my dogs, and spending time with family and friends.
Claudia
Dental Hygienist
I became a dental assistant in Germany in 1991. After a year as a nanny in the U.S., I knew I wanted to study dental hygiene and did so at the University of Bridgeport, Connecticut. After 20 years in dentistry it feels like my second home. I really enjoy connecting with our patients and working with a team that feels like family. My goal is to make people feel as relaxed as possible and help them keep a great smile.
I love being a gardener and a cook. Right now I am learning lots of things related to remodeling our little mid-century ranch. I love the sense of accomplishment at the end of each project. I also enjoy cycling, knitting, Pilates, and backpacking.
Jeanne
Dental Hygienist
I earned my dental hygiene degree in 2005 from Prairie State College in Chicago Heights, Illinois and began working at Beaverton Dental Center in 2007. I enjoy getting to know each patient on a personal level. I also like helping patients who have issues with anxiety or discomfort overcome those feelings and have a positive dental visit. Since Dr. Truszkowski and Dr. Williams treat each patient the way they would a close friend or relative, making patients comfortable comes pretty easily!
My family and I enjoy soccer, camping, and playing with our cats.
Front Office Staff and Denturist
Katie
Office Manager
I began working at Beaverton Dental Center in 2012, but have worked in the dental field since 2008. My goal is to work together with my doctors and team to continuously grow and improve our practice. My favorite part of my job is setting goals and working hard until they are achieved. I love helping with insurance processing and providing answers to tricky billing questions! Patient interaction and watching them become overjoyed when they complete their treatment is something that will always bring a smile to my face.
I love living in the Pacific Northwest because I take advantage of our wide variety of climates. From skiing to camping, I enjoy being outdoors and traveling with my family. I also get a kick out of Portland and love the diverse culture and welcoming attitude!
Anna
Patient Care Coordinator
I joined Beaverton Dental Center in 2012 as a patient care coordinator, so I help patients get started on their dental care and see them through until it is finished. We have awesome patients, and I’ve enjoyed getting to know them and hearing their stories. Our office is such a fun place, full of laughter and people who truly love being around each other.
My husband and I live in Lake Oswego with our cat, Yoda. We enjoy spending time with our friends and family, especially our nieces and nephews! In our spare time, we love to explore Oregon and find new places to eat and drink.
Toni
Patient Care Coordinator
My job is to schedule patients, verify insurance, consult with patients about their treatment, and make sure each patient has a great experience. While I’ve only been here since April of 2015, I’ve had a lot of fun getting to know and connecting with our patients. It is very rewarding to help them achieve the smile they’ve always wanted. I love working for Dr. Tom because he is very caring and passionate about the work he does. He is a perfectionist, which goes to show that he really does care what your teeth look like!
I have been married for 14 years to my wonderful husband Darrin. We have two girls Aubree and Abby who are the lights of our lives. My dog Tuker likes to go on walks with us and enjoys the beach, camping, and the outdoors like I do. I love scrapbooking and singing in my spare time.
Heather
Hygiene Coordinator
I consider myself to be a lifetime student. I love learning new things! I didn’t have any dental experience before joining Beaverton Dental Center, but I have loved the opportunity to be challenged at work. It may sound odd, but I love posting insurance! It means that our patients have had their needs met and have a great smile to show for it!
Our doctors are seriously the best! They are so different and both so talented! One of the things I like the best is that our doctors’ individuality and different styles allow us to make such a diverse group of people happy to come to the dentist. They are not only great doctors, but kind and wonderful men, and I’m lucky to work for them.
Norie
Office Assistant
In a typical day, I prepare the charts for our hygienists, update paperwork, and verify insurance information. I also assist with marketing, run errands, and do anything I can to help the front office run smoothly. I began working with BDC in February, 2015. This is my first position in the dental field, and I am excited to be a part of such a great practice! So far, my favorite part of my job is seeing all of the beautiful smiles on our patients. Knowing that they are happy makes me happy!
When I am not at work, I am often found in my kitchen. I love to experiment with recipes, and thankfully have a wonderful husband who loves to eat. Together, we enjoy trying new coffee shops, hiking, volunteering with foster kids, and spending time with our "baby," a cockatiel named Earl Grey.
Robert (Bob) Cain, LD
Robert's family has a history in the dental laboratory and denture care field. In the summer of 1966 when just 11, Robert started working at his father's dental lab. Working alongside his father, Robert learned the tried and true techniques and philosophies of dental technology. Robert attended college at Oregon State University, focusing on the study of biology and jewelry design. In 1977, he moved to Portland and worked at Dahlin Dental Laboratory, a large commercial lab.
Robert completed the Denturist Certification Program to acquire his denturist license in 1981. In the same year, he opened his first denture clinic in Northeast Portland. During those years, Robert also worked as the lead denturist for Dr. Naisbitt, who specialized in dental implants for fully edentulous patients. It was during this time that Robert gained his expert knowledge of implant supported dentures. During his tenure with Dr. Naisbitt from 1986-1991, Robert completed over 2,000 implant cases.
Robert has continued his long and successful career in the field of denturism because he believes in denture care he provides patients. Not only does Robert passionately care about the needs of his patients, he also advocates for high educational standards and opportunities for current and future denturists. In 1981, Robert served as a co-founder, along with Dr. Thibert, in creating the International Congress of Denturism. This committee's sole purpose is to promote the advancement of denture services education in the denturist field.
In 1984, the Portland area Study Club was organized by Robert and fellow cohorts in order to closely examine advanced denture techniques on a monthly basis. Both of these organizations are still active and thriving today. Additionally, Robert has independently sought after continuing educational courses and certifications that explore the latest technologies and discoveries in denture engineering. It has been his career priority to always strive for the best possible practices.
Robert is married to Donna, who loves spinning wool. They have two girls in college, one who is studying in the denture field. In his free time, Robert enjoys fishing, wood working, and training denturist students.
